Govinda and Gopala mean “the one who finds” and “the one who protects.” Both are names for Lord Krishna when he was a young cowherd in Vrindavan. Govinda Jaya Jaya is the song of one who seeks and finds the total protection of the Lord.
Composed in the Bilaval raga, its beautiful melody draws forth feelings of joy, repose, tenderness, and prayer.
